Is it possible to patina the buttons without removal?
Let me rephrase that slightly: the buttons cannot be removed. 😅 They are hand-hammered brass and love them but they're much less aged than I'd prefer. I'd really like to have them with a nice patina, almost matte. Is there a way this can be done without removing them? I know there are artificial products like creams and also the vinegar method (again, won't work since they're attached). They were very expensive ($12.50/button) and the boots are a "forever" purchase.
