#UnseenScar

When I was just a child, my parents separated, leaving me and my sibling caught in a world we didn't understand and powerless to stop the fracture of our family. My sibling went to our grandmother while I stayed with my father, and in that separation, we both carried a quiet longing for the family we should have had.
I watched, helpless, as grown-ups made choices that seemed to forget we were children, innocent and unaware, yet deeply affected by every word and decision. Growing up, I realized how much tension and misunderstanding in a family can hurt the youngest hearts, and how important it is to communicate, to understand, and to let God guide every step of the marriage.
Even though my parents could not reconcile, I learned that any disagreement should be put aside for the sake of the children, because no child should bear the weight of adult mistakes.
Losing my father while we were still divided was one of the most heart wrenching experiences, leaving a void that cannot be filled and a grief that lingers quietly in everyday moments.
As a mother myself, I carry that memory as a compass, striving to give my child what I once lacked love, presence, and a home that feels safe and unbroken.
I constantly remind myself that being a parent is not about perfection, but about choosing patience, empathy, and forgiveness, and about showing a child that they are never the reason for grown-up choices that go wrong.
My scars from childhood still sting sometimes, reminding me of what I lacked and what I had to endure, but they also shaped me into someone who is determined to protect, nurture, and cherish the next generation.
To anyone reading this who has been spared such pain, know that you are lucky, and to those who have suffered, know that your scars do not define you they are reminders of strength, endurance, and the deep capacity of the human heart to heal.

Your reflection on how those early experiences shaped your approach to parenting is truly inspiring. It’s a powerful reminder that while we may carry scars from our past, they can also fuel our desire to create a better, more loving environment for our children
