Off Roading Near Gatlinburg, recommendations?
Heading to the Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge area this weekend and want to get some off-roading in. Anywhere reasonably close is fair game.
I'm running a 2026 Tacoma TRD Off-Road (no mods) and I'm a moderately experienced driver, so technical terrain is welcome. I'm not looking for anything too crazy that requires a built/modded rig though.
A few specifics:
* Needs to be wide enough for a mid-size truck. Not interested in renting UTVs or side-by-sides, so trails sized only for those are out.
* Free / public FS roads and trails are ideal, although I'm okay with paying if worth it. Happy to hear about both easy scenic routes and more challenging stuff.
* Any gate closures, seasonal access, or permits I should check before heading out?
