The 2025 Diablos Rojos in the Mexican league were essentially a baseball history fans dream roster

Look at who they had:

* **Robinson Canó:** The 8-time All-Star just recorded his **4,000th professional hit**.
* **Arturo López:** A 2004(!!!!) Rule 5 pick who debuted with the Padres back in 2009.
* **Japhet Amador:** This guy is a legend. At 6’4” and 310 lbs, he was the heaviest player in AAA history during his time in the Astros system. He’s a beast with **449 career pro home runs**.
* Gabriel Gutierrez (Diablos catcher) is the last active catcher to have caught Fernando Valenzuela. You read that right. They were teammates on the 2007 Águilas de Mexicali when Fernando was 46. (Fun fact: Fernando was the ace for that team the year prior, going 6-3).
* Gutierrez is currently playing with **Agustín Murillo** (43), who played on the 2005-06 Yaquis de Obregón with **Ángel Moreno**. **Moreno** is a legend of longevity—in 2005, he made 20 starts in Mexico with a 5.95 ERA... **at the age of 50**
* Murillo also played with **Isidro Márquez**, a former Major Leaguer who, in 2021, pitched 29 games with a 2.70 ERA **at age 56**.

MEX is not the weakest of leagues. Joey Meneses (who had a .769 OPS in Mets AAA last year) is currently grinding in the winter league with a .696 OPS in 200+ PA. He’s just one of many MLB vets struggling there.
