Need Help Automating Recirc Pump For On Demand Water Heater
I've got a Rinnai RX199iN natural gas on-demand heater that is great but you waste a ton of water waiting for it to get warm when the lines are cold. I'm adding a recirculating pump with a dedicated return line. There are some pumps that offer basic timers or some claim to monitor hot water usage and pre-heat accordingly but the reviews are mixed. I've decided to get a Grundfos UP15-29SU "dumb" pump with no features and use smart outlets and possibly a BN-Link short period intermittent interval timer. That way I won't be stuck with whatever features come on a smarter pump.
Ideally I'd like these features for the outlet controlling the pump:
\- Sense when my cell phone is at home to activate outlet schedule
\- Have dead periods for 11pm - 6am
\- Run intervals of something like 5min on followed by 10min off when the phone is home and not in night blackout
