X-Men 97 Features the Best Writing of Any Recent Marvel Content
So I’m watching the second season, and just like the first, the writing is so impressive and has a level of depth that much of the other content is unwilling to touch.
In particular, the first ‘Rise of Apocalypse’ episode is in incredibly fascinating. As Professor X begins to understand Magneto’s plan of using Nur as an emblem of diplomacy between humans and mutants, this leads X to question the ethics of altering time. Is it ethical to change the course of history without the consent of all those humans? Meanwhile, in typical Magneto fashion, his disgust for the litany of human atrocities justifies such decisions. It’s ethical qualms like this that just give the show a level of sophistication that not much other content contains. And this doesn’t even mention how the ep masterfully used Magneto’s plan as the perfect catalyst for Apocalypse cynicism for mutants and his eventual destruction of them.
Anyway, brilliant start to the season!
