I got my first 2 fingers down salute today!
The title says it all. I'm new to riding and while it's not my first time leaving the neighborhood, it was my first time going all the way to the convenience store. Well shortly after leaving my neighborhood, a biker on a cruiser going the other way gave me the 2 fingers down salute as he passed by me. I was scared to let go of my left grip, but I did anyway because I didn't wanna be the guy who didn't reciprocate and figured it was a good opportunity to practice trusting the physics. And I'm glad I did. I successfully returned the salute and now my confidence is through the roof. I still need to take proper racing and police maneuvering lessons so I can be safer on the road, but this experience was a huge confidence boost.
