Road to Avengers Doomsday: All Hail the King

Like many big franchises, there are going to be bumps in the road. Creative swings that perhaps aren’t widely regarded as good or accepted. I, for one, have no problem with the Mandarin twist in Iron Man 3. But I’m not going to lie and say that there weren't some internet responses to it that were quite loud. Personally, I wouldn’t pay any attention to those sorts of things.  But Marvel actually managed to maintain the integrity of Iron Man 3 and add some details and wrinkles to a part of that story which has now sort of come full circle.

This is among the top three Marvel One Shots, for me. It does everything a short film should do and does so effectively and is consistent with my views of what these One Shots should have been. All Hail the King is very much a Trevor Slattery story which takes a turn for the worst/best (depending on how you look at it). We get more of Trevor, we learn about his career, and how he is managing being a criminal celebrity. It is kind of amusing how Shang Chi brings everything together after this. I also like the fact that the story is a Trevor Slattery story (as I mentioned) but that it slowly builds to suggest something more ominous (the real Ten Rings and the true Mandarin).
