The republic opposes monarchy since "republic" means that the three powers are no longer in the hands of a single person but distributed among three independent institutions. These three powers are the legislative power that creates laws, the executive power that enforces the law, and the judicial power that judges according to the law.
This separation of powers avoids the tyranny of a selfish dictator through the specialization of institutions, allowing them to fully focus on exercising a single power. This separation of powers is also a prerequisite for legality and the rule of law, which are essential components of good governance. Finally, the separation of powers allows for more efficiency in the legal system, resulting in a better economic and social environment and ultimately leading to development.
Therefore, I am in favor of the republic.
However, the republic does not necessarily mean democracy. For example, it is possible to construct a technocratic republic based on meritocracy, where decisions are made by enlightened individuals. I repeat: although the two concepts have been closely linked in practice throughout modern history, the republic is not necessarily democratic.
I am against democracy because the intelligence of the people does not necessarily reflect the intelligence and level of education of the top tier. We are then faced with a tyranny of the majority or, to put it more directly, a tyranny of the mediocre. It is very easy to influence the choices of this mediocre mass, particularly by using colossal means during electoral propaganda.
Therefore, I am against democracy.

Je suis donc pour la république.
Mais la république ne signifie pas forcément une démocracie. Ainsi, il est par exemple possible de construire une république technocrate assise sur la méritocratie, où les decisions sont prises par des gens éclairés. Je repète : même si les deux concepts sont très liés dans la pratique tout au long de l'histoire moderne, la république n'est pas forcément démocratique.
Je suis contre la démocratie car l'intelligence du peuple ne reflète pas forcément l'intelligence et le niveau d'éducation du haut du panier. On est alors face à une tyrannie de la majorité, ou pour le dire d'une manière plus directe, une tyrannie des plus médiocres. Et il est très facile d'influencer les choix de cette masse médiocre, notamment en usant de moyens colossaux lors des propagandes électorales.
Je suis donc contre la démocratie.

I completely agree with you. It particularly disturbs me that uneducated individuals take an active role in making decisions about the country's governance. Above all, uneducated individuals are easily influenced and can be easily manipulated. Unfortunately, in my country, the situation is exactly as you described, which shouldn't be the case. However, it's disheartening that a government that has been in power for 20 years, exploiting all of the country's resources and devaluing the national currency against other currencies, was re-elected by 52% of the population a few months ago. While the annual inflation rate is over 150%, the government's responsible institution for this matter shamefully announces figures like 38% to support active management and restrain salary increases, which is laughable. In reality, with the current inflation, you can only purchase products that you could have bought for 1 unit of currency last year for at least 2.5 units of currency. With the situation being so dire, there is no logical explanation for the conscious choice of the people to vote for a government that has been mismanaging the country for 20 years.
Inflation is real, I can feel it. I used to pay 280,000 MGA of gas in 2021 to visit my parents. Since 2022, I have paid 350,000 MGA of gas for the same distance, for the same car.

20k compared to the minimum age of 11k, that's just crazy! IMEI registration is free in my country, everybody even the poorest, can afford a cellphone (but a very simple chinese cellphone, without internet)
Yeah crazy because TAX on the phone is almost %200. if you want to but a phone you have to pay for two . One for you one for government.. Fifteen years ago, you could buy a car with the price of the current iPhone 14 Pro Max.
And yes, I agree with you : lack of education is the biggest problem of democracy.

A real democracy would be desirable, but it is mostly subverted. In Germany, for example, we officially have a democracy, but what people vote for does not govern. What people want is irrelevant.
I thought that democracy is better in a country like yours. In my country, they just share t-shirts during propaganda, to buy people. That's why I talked about "colossal means".
All sorts of things are promised during the election campaign and then the opposite is done immediately after the election. No party ever has to account for this. In recent years, even our basic rights, guaranteed to us by the Constitution, have been suspended. Actually, this is not legally possible, but they just do it. I don't call that democracy.
A global government would punish your national government for that. But you're against it 😁
