Here's my Entry
#AloneByDesign

1. When you imagine getting old and living aloneβ€”no partner, no kids, no relatives, just youβ€”what’s your first feeling? Explain briefly.

My first feeling is a mix of sadness and curiosity. The thought of having no close family around feels lonely, but it also makes me wonder how strong and independent I could become. It is a future that feels uncertain, and that uncertainty creates both fear and reflection.

2. What part of that idea scares you the most? Explain.

What scares me the most is facing difficult moments alone. If I become sick, weak, or need help with daily tasks, not having someone close to rely on could be very challenging. The fear is not only physical loneliness but also emotional isolation.

3. Is there any part of that idea that feels okay, or even freeing? Explain.

Yes. Living alone in old age could also bring a sense of freedom. I would be able to make my own choices, follow my own routine, and spend my time doing things I enjoy without feeling pressured by other people's expectations.

4. If you could design your β€œideal solo old age,” what would it look like? Describe.

My ideal solo old age would be peaceful and meaningful. I would live in a comfortable home surrounded by books, plants, and nature. I would stay connected with friends and my community, continue learning new things, and spend time helping others. Even if I lived alone, I would not want to feel disconnected from the world.

5. What’s one thing you can start doing now to prepare for any futureβ€”alone or not?

One thing I can start doing now is building emotional resilience. Learning how to manage challenges, maintain friendships, and take care of my mental and physical health will help me face the future with confidence, whether I am alone or surrounded by people.
