Question on expanding swing set
I have a swing set that is currently 94" with a 3x5.25" board supporting 3 swings. The origional builder used some odd and very soft (assuming cheap) lumber. I want to expand it and was planning on using a 12' 4x6 to support 4 swings. I haven't been able to find any good resources on calculating the required lumber for this span and number of swings or estimated loading per swing. I assume they don't have span tables like they have for joists? Anyone know how to do the math on this? I'm not sure if I should put an extra support in the middle. Do they make 6x8 boards or are they composite at that point?
