Why is he rubbing oil on aluminium with steel wool?
Sorry for the maybe stupid question but don't know much about metalworking. I do enjoy watching my mechanics videos, especially the Nissan restoration service and he does this process quite often after restoring a part, so I'm wondering what the reason is for rubbing aluminium with oil?
I guess it protects from oxidation but wouldn't painting or powder coating be more durable? Does it have to do with sticking with original finishes?
