Some questions about your experiences de and opinions
Hello Collectors!
I’ve always heard about the obsession of the lucky few with Rolex watches, especially the Submariner. Today, I’d like to ask you a couple of questions to hear your opinions, but first, I need to give you some context. It’s quite a bit of text, but I highly recommend reading it! :)
When my father was young, he lost everything during the Bosnian War. Once he managed to stabilize his life, he started buying unofficial watches because he loved them but could never afford a “real” one. He would always stop by jewelry stores and luxury watch boutiques, and I would always get annoyed because I found it boring. However, one day, he told me that some Breitling watches had an emergency system where you could call for a rescue helicopter using the watch, and I was blown away.
Over time, he built a small collection of unofficial and official but affordable watches, and a couple of years ago, he gave me a Seiko watch. It was inexpensive, but I love it deeply because not long after he gave it to me, he passed away.
I never cared about the things he was into—suits, watches… But recently, I don’t know if it’s due to nostalgia or wanting to be more like him, I started building a collection of affordable watches that I liked, inspired by the style of the Seiko he gave me.
The other day, I saw an ad on Instagram for a Breitling watch, and it’s the first time I’ve seen an expensive watch that I truly liked. It has become my dream watch, like when you’re a kid and you dream of a Ferrari, knowing it’s impossible—it’s the same feeling.
I know I can’t afford it, but if one day, for any reason, I ever become a lucky person, the only watch I’d want is the green Breitling Chronomat BO1 42.
This has led me to want to learn more about this world, and that’s why I’m here, turning to the community to learn more about you and your opinions.
