My wife and I just became parents, and we are still living in a shoe-box apartment. The bassinet can only go next to a window, which is not ideal. We live in CT, and temperature fluctuations and drafts by the window can be deadly to a baby. I need to turn this window into a wall for 3 months while our lease runs out.
I'm thinking of snugly blocking the window with two layers of 2" XPS, taping off all gaps with masking tape, then lowering the shades (they are fabric) over it all so it looks somewhat ok. I will then screw the shade cord to the wall so it won't go anywhere. The cord will be out of the baby's reach either way, but I'm not taking any chances. The window faces North, so XPS won't be cooking in direct sunlight.
Anything wrong with this idea? Baby's safety is the priority. #diy source
