Threaded PVC snapped off in cast iron pump outlet - how to remove?
A heavy object fell on the PVC outlet from my shallow well pump and snapped it off flush with the pump body. I have a heat gun for paint removal that I'm considering using to heat the PVC up until pliable and then stick a screwdriver in there to pry it away from the threads and tug it out with pliers. I can fill the pump with water up to the bottom of the PVC so nothing inside the pump gets damaged by the heat.
Does this sound reasonable? I'm hoping to avoid mechanical removal that could cause damage to the threads.
I don't think there's a bushing that fits inside 1" PVC or id #diy source
