Is there a scene for you that ruins an otherwise great movie?
For me it’s Goldfinger. It’s generally one of the best Classic Bond movies. It has a great villain, good plot, fun action, and it might be Connery’s best performance in the role.
But there’s a scene mid-way through where Bond straight-up rapes the lead Bond-girl.
Yeah it’s a different time, I get that. There’s a LOT of outdated stuff in those classics that I can pretty easily look past.
But the hero wrestling the love-interest (who was in the villain’s side) and pinning her down to start kissing her as she’s trying to shove him off, and then the scene cuts while they have sex, and then after that she magically switches to his side (I guess the rape was that convincing) is a couple bridges too far.
It seriously taints that movie for me, and I have trouble going back to it as a result.
