A woman in her eighties brought five million won to Yeongdeungpo Station in Seoul, to repay a 500-won train fare a stationmaster let her son off in 1978.
She could afford only her own ticket on a local train from Jeongeup in October 1978, so she explained herself at the barrier and the stationmaster told her to go on her way. She came back on 26 August with an envelope of cash and a letter written one character at a time, and gave her name only as Grandma from Nangok-dong.
