YSK that most reactions are already forming before you notice them — but there’s a brief moment where you can still change them
Most people think reactions just “happen”.
But in everyday situations — arguments, stress, messages, decisions — there is a very small moment before the reaction fully forms.
If you catch it, you can change what you do next.
If you miss it, the reaction runs automatically.
For example:
You receive a message that annoys you.
You feel the urge to reply immediately.
That urge is already a forming reaction.
If you pause even for a second, you’ll notice:
the reaction is not finished yet.
That’s the point where you can:
\- choose a different tone
\- delay your response
\- avoid saying something you’ll regret
This applies to:
\- arguments
\- stress reactions
\- impulsive decisions
\- emotional responses
It’s not about suppressing feelings.
It’s about noticing the moment before they turn into action.
Why YSK:
Because being able to notice and use that small moment can improve decision-making, reduce unnecessary conflict, and help you respond more intentionally instead of reacting automatically. #education
