What's even left for them to do with Steve Rogers at this point?
I'm not trying to be Mr. Cynical who comes along and stomps on everyone's fun, but I just feel like there's nothing left for them to do with Steve now. They're obviously bringing him back for the nostalgia and to create hype for these movies, but it doesn't feel like there's any good story-based reasons for ruining his existing character arc and bringing him back.
Throughout the course of The Infinity Saga, Steve has....
* Had a whole trilogy of solo movies
* Led The Avengers 4 times
* Said "Avengers, Assemble!"
* Had many different costumes from the comics
* Wielded Mjolnir
* Interacted with tons of different heroes (Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor, Hulk, Wanda, Black Widow, Guardians of The Galaxy, etc.)
* Appeared in 9 MCU movies over the span of 8 years
* Given the shield to Sam and declared him the new Captain America
* Had his happy ending with Peggy
What can they possibly do in 'Doomsday' and 'Secret Wars' that will make it feel like it was worth ruining his happy ending?
