ELI5 How are butterflies formed out of basically bug goo?
i’ve always been told the process, caterpillar makes cocoon, turns into bug sludge, then slowly forms into a butterfly before emerging from the cocoon. But how does that work? Does it need to breathe or eat while it’s goo? Do other bugs do this? And how do some cocoons move around and wiggle?
