Back in 2011, I was hospitalized due to dengue fever. I spent four long days in the hospital, enduring daily blood tests as my platelet count continued to drop. During this time, Typhoon Pedring struck the Philippines, causing severe flooding, particularly affecting the hospital's first floor where the laboratory was located.
On the fourth day, the staff told us we could go home, yet something inside me insisted that we stay until I received my latest lab results from the previous night. After some insistence, they finally showed me the results: my platelet count had dropped to 80 Β΅l, well below the standard range of 150 - 450 Β΅l.
This news prompted my family to decide to transfer me to another hospital. However, because of the flooding, we needed a boat to leave the area, and none were available. In an act of determination and desperation, I had to walk through chest-high floodwaters to reach safety. It was a challenging time, but thanks to divine intervention, I was able to transfer successfully.
At the new hospital, they prepared me for potential blood transfusions, but through the power of prayer and faith, my platelet count began to rise. Ultimately, I did not need the transfusion at all.
This experience truly highlighted the strength of faith and perseverance, and I am incredibly grateful for the miracles that unfolded during such tough moments.π
