Okay first I’ll address the obvious criticism, being how the whole movie had little stakes and little room for growth mainly due to the use of pre-established characters.
Firstly to address this criticism which is valid I would like to say I believe it’s slightly exaggerated. I understand Han didn’t have huge character development but there is some. Mainly we see it at the end when he shoots first. This is obviously not as said previously huge character development but within the limitations it’s something. Secondly, obviously the entire audience knew neither Han, chewy or lando could die during this move but I still feel like there were some stakes when it comes to the outcomes of the heists. Look it’s not perfect but again I think people are exaggerating here.
But as I said in the beginning I believe that criticism IS VALID but it’s used as a blanket statement to say the whole is film is bad/average when I really believe it’s amazing. The whole film plays out like a space western heist and it so fun to watch. Lando is amazing always (Donald Glover on top). And I really appreciated the clone wars tie in at the end with Maul, which unfortunately hasent been expanded on (side note, maybe they will do it in Ashoka season 2?). The acting was great, the action scenes amazing, the dialogue with some exceptions, amazing. I don’t get what everyone had a problem with. Also please remember it’s a stand alone story and shouldn’t be compared with trilogies. #movies #video
