Daredevil’s Cameo in She-Hulk was Great, and I Don’t Understand the People Saying It Wasn’t.
DDBA season 2 has me in a daredevil mood so I was rewatching some of the daredevil clips from his episode in She-Hulk. I noticed that some of the clips had thumbnails using words like “cringe”. I know lots of people hate the She-Hulk show, and I get some of the reasons why (though I personally think it’s alright). But I really don’t understand daredevil fans that hate his cameo, I think it was pretty good.
To start, the tone. She-Hulk is just a more lighthearted show than Daredevil or DDBA. They literally have different age recommendations. I don’t really think it’s a problem that Daredevil is acting a bit sillier. I get why people might not like when he makes dumb jokes about his powers in court, cause it isn’t something he’d do in his own show. But I think that’s just the reality of daredevil being in the MCU. If you want him to hang out with Spider-Man or other more lighthearted heroes, then he’s gonna have to be more lighthearted, and that means making jokes. It’s just not that big of a deal.
Anyway, it’s fairly justifiable within the story. This is like the happiest time in Matt’s life right? It’s when he’s working at Nelson-Murdock-Paige with Foggy and Karen. Fisk and Bullseye are still in Jail. This is before Foggy “dies” remember. Him being more smiley and happy-go-lucky makes enough sense to me.
Also, and this is probably my main point, THEY GLAZE HIM LIKE HELL. In his intro scene he destroys She-Hulk in court. Then in the follow up bar scene he rizzes her like crazy, and also gives her an actual character progressing speech. He holds up really well in the fight scene with She-Hulk, even if he doesn’t win. (Not to get all powerscalery but she does out-class him, she is a Hulk. Also she exploits one of his weaknesses, so fair enough.). Then in the fight scene with the guards they give him a hallway fight (which proves to me that they were fans of the show). Then he bangs She-Hulk (and she’s cute af).
Is it just the finale that ruins it for people? I didn’t like it either and I remember he was in it. But I just remember thinking it was pretty cool to see daredevil hang out with the Hulk (I don’t want to rewatch the finale it was on of the parts I didn’t like).
It reminds me of whenever Spider-Man shows up in another characters comic and he’s 100000x better than in his comics. To be clear, I’m not saying daredevil is better here than in his show, I’m just saying I think he’s treated pretty well. And I’m bored of people letting their biases against the show cloud their judgement of this episode.
