My mom just bought this (admittedly beautiful) Rolex in the diamond district in NYC. She paid $8k for it, and the receipt indicates it’s from 1988, 31mm with an aftermarket dial & bezel. I know she overpaid, but I’m wondering by how much. The return policy on the wall apparently says the seller offers refunds if it’s appraised at a lower value than they sold it for (which I’m fairly certain it will be), but they take 15% of the sale as a fee. I’m wondering if we should just return it and eat the \~$1.2k or try to negotiate and get him to sell us a stainless steel perpetual date that she also liked (no aftermarket parts) for around $2k to overset the price she paid for the first one. Neither have papers or original boxes. Let me know what you think! #luxury source
