Replacing grout around tub with silicone caulk. Looking for a sanity check.
Home is approximately eight years old. Need to do some maintenance on the kids' shower. Builder used grout in the joints where the wall tiles and the floor tiles meet the tub. Lots of cracks have developed over the last year, which is why I'm replacing. The rule I've always heard is to use caulk instead of grout whenever you have a right-angle or when two different materials are coming together. So, I am planning to use silicone caulk to seal around the tub once I've cleaned the old grout out. I don't have anyone in my friends and family circle that I'd consider handy enough to answer this question, so hopefully someone here can confirm I'm doing the correct thing. #diy source
