#BreakingPoint g/confessions g/studio That is a heavy…

#BreakingPoint

That is a heavy, visceral story. 😔🥴💔
Twenty years is an entire lifetime of shared history, and hearing it end under the weight of both addiction and infidelity is gut-wrenching. You can feel the exhaustion in his words—that moment where the "fight" finally drains out and is replaced by a cold, hard clarity.
I've seen this kind of scenario so many times, (during my teaching days) and it's usually the children who suffer and are affected the most.
I can see the patterns here. When a "house is on fire" like this, the best move isn't about saving the structure; it's about getting the people out alive.

And the big question now 👉Stay or Go?
I must say WALK or better RUN🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
A lot of people think staying "for the kids" is the noble choice, but in a home fueled by addiction and cheating, you’re often just gifting them trauma instead of stability. Kids don't just watch what you do; they breathe the air you provide. By leaving, he’s teaching them a vital lesson: You don't have to accept mistreatment to prove you're loyal. He's showing them that their own future boundaries actually matter.

Next 👉 Reconciliation vs. Peace
ALWAYS CHOOSE PEACE💯💯💯
Reconciliation is a two-person job. If the spouse is still drinking and lying, there’s no "fight" left to win—he’d just be boxing a shadow. You can’t make things right with someone who hasn't even admitted what’s wrong. At this point, peace isn’t a luxury; it’s a survival requirement.

And here's the reality check✔️

STOP LIGHTING YOURSELF ON FIRE TO KEEP SOMEONE ELSE WARM.💯💯💯

He’s spent two decades trying to be an anchor for someone who wants to drift. He has to accept that he can’t fix someone who uses their own brokenness as a shield. The second the trust was dismantled, his responsibility shifted from "us" to "me and the kids."

 Rebuilding Solo
Therapy is non-negotiable. He needs to unpack why he stayed for 20 years and heal from the betrayal trauma.
And it takes time 🥺😞😔

Physically wise, he needs to get in the gym or out on a trail. Or any physical activities and sports. After years of living in his head and worrying, he needs to reconnect with his body.
👉 DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT

Dating???
Hmm, 🤔🤔🤔just... wait. Rebounding while the divorce scent is still fresh usually leads right back into the same messy patterns. He needs to enjoy his own company first...... Until he gets back to himself again, fully healed and ready to love again.

On managing the kids, it should be parallel parenting.
Since addiction is in the mix, traditional, harmonious co-parenting is probably a pipe dream. Parallel Parenting means he stays the stable, constant rock for the kids while keeping contact with the ex to a business-only minimum. If the drinking makes things unsafe, he has to move from protecting them through the chaos to protecting them from it.

Why does this hurt so much?😭😭💔💔💔
The math is simple but brutal: 20 years is 7,300 days of shared habits. Moving from that to alone in the dark feels like a death because, emotionally, it is. But he’s right—there is absolutely no joy in being with someone who stopped choosing you a long time ago.

g morning 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️😗

you shed light on sacrifice and betrayal ... make sens to feel regrets for spending 20 years under the same roof with a woman who seems to hunt an opportunity to run away.

we don't know that as a fact 🤷... and it make me think more that is the result of many years of bad relationships. accumulation of unsolved pblms , cold communication ...and he is a part of it of course.

"You can’t make things right with someone who hasn't even admitted what’s wrong" 😎 totally right
this is the key.

Love the way you explained it dear! Absolutely 💯. Walking away is the only way to protect himself and the kids. Staying wouldn’t save anyone, it would only pass on trauma. Peace first, always. Healing, therapy, and rebuilding come before dating or reconciliation. Kids need stability, boundaries, and a parent who isn’t burning out trying to fix the unfixable. It’s brutal, but choosing yourself is the real act of love here. 💔

Absolutely sister. We’re thinking along the same lines. Who can actually put up with a situation like this? 20 years is nothing short of prolonged torture.
