Planning a camping trip in the Scottish Highlands over summer, anything I should know?
Me and 7 friends (all female) are planning a hiking trip through the highlands over the summer after A Levels. Originally we were gonna do 3 Peaks but we're limited a bit by time and drivers, so have decided to just drive up to the highlands instead and climb Ben Nevis and other Scottish peaks. Most of us have at least some knowledge of camping (two of us were part of scouting). My questions are:
1) Any advice specifically about the Scottish highlands? Anywhere really nice we should look out for that isn't ridiculously far from Ben Nevis? Are there any vastly different rules to the ones in England (other than right to roam)?
2) Any camping or hiking advice for a group of seven girls in particular? Specifically hygiene (feminine and general), but also about safety in the Highlands or alcohol tolerance (apparently the policy for drunk driving is 0.0)?
3) Any general camping advice that might be useful?
