Door hinge fix.

I've probably seen a dozen posts about this sort of thing so when I had my own door hinge to fix I \_thought\_ I knew what to do. Pack the existing (loose-fitting) screw holes with toothpicks and wood glue and then re-use them.
The problem with my situation however is that this door hinge is mounted super close to the edge of the jamb to the point where the screws must have been basically running along between the wall and the moulding (see second photo). Unfortunately the hinge is as far in as it can go, butting up against the stop moulding (I think this is the term).
When I re-mounted the hinge I pushed it right up against the stop moulding and even tried to pre-drill at a slight inward angle but it's no good. At first closing the door was too snug (the stop moulding resisting it on the inside edge when closing, and it wasn't long before the screws were loose again.
Any ideas for how to fix this? Maybe chisel out part of the stop moulding? ...Although then I feel like the rest of the door won't line up. Gah, idk. Halp!
