#SiblingRivalry

Here is response on given questions in the activity.

1- I am writing from the perspective of a child who grew up with sibling rivalry. My sibling and I were close in many ways, but also very competitive. We cared about each other, yet we constantly compared ourselves in studies, attention from parents, and even small things like who got praised more. The vibe between us was a mix of friendship and silent competition.

2- One of my earliest memories of rivalry was fighting over attention and recognition. If one of us scored better grades or received appreciation from our dad, the other would quietly feel left behind. Sometimes it was about toys or personal space, but most of the time it was about feeling “more important” or “more noticed.”

3- Even now, comparison still appears sometimes, but it feels less intense than before. Growing older helped us understand each other better. The rivalry changed into motivation in some ways, though certain old feelings can still hurt occasionally. Instead of openly fighting, it now shows up more through subtle comparisons in achievements or life progress.

4 - At the same time, the rivalry taught important lessons. It taught me how to handle jealousy without letting it control me. It also taught me to speak up for myself, become emotionally stronger, and respect personal boundaries. I learned that comparison can either damage relationships or push people to improve themselves, depending on how it is handled.

5- One thing I wish had been different is the way adults sometimes compared us without realizing the impact. Constant comparison can make children feel like they are competing for love instead of simply being accepted as different individuals. I wish there had been more understanding that both siblings can succeed in different ways.

6- If I could talk to my younger self during those difficult moments, I would say: “You do not need to compete to be valuable. Your worth is not smaller because someone else shines too. Learn to support each other instead of proving who is better.
