YSK: If you know people with huge VHS/BetaMax/oldformat movie collections, GET THEM TO DIGITIZE AND SHARE!

**Why YSK**: some people in the early years of TV were absolute hoarders, recording everything in sight - it was their hobby, and over time they built up insanely large collections of videos. There are also some VERY old privately made films, photographs, and audio recordings - of families on holidays, vacations, that sort of thing - that could be EXTREMELY valuable to many, from historians to archivists to anthropologists to architects! The younger generations are used to having 1000 pictures of themselves and their environments per year, but the further back you go, the less there were because technology was all still developing back then, and the farther back you go, the more expensive - and thus, rare - it was.

**Why it matters**: a LOT of TV / film / music / radio history has gone lost. Also, a LOT of documentation about historic objects - old buildings, streets, parks, animal life, and so on and so forth - is incomplete.

**What you can do**: if you know (of) such a hoarder, or one of your grandparents has such a collection or whatever, see if they would be willing to share it. Public archival services would DEARLY love to digitize it and make it available to the public, often for free (try to choose one of those!). This way, you will help conserve part of history, and we may even dig up some prize missing TV shows - for example, old episodes of the BBC's Dr. Who which have been lost to history. Every once in a while, however, such things get found in collections.

So, if you know someone who is sitting on a collossal stack of Vinyl, VHS, Betamax, photographs or even older film formats, ask them to contact a public archive organization, and make arrangements to share! Same goes for when you're cleaning up our grandparents' attics. Don't think: nah, who wants a few pics of my grandparents or their backyarrd. They can also help for family trees, historic landmarks, anthropology and much more. Every bit helps!
