The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999) - A Portrayal of a Saint with ADHD?
When I was younger I was able to watch this #movie on TV and got inspired by it. Hey I was young ang naive of course I loved it then. Haha. Truly inspiring to see a woman lead a war and win! Fast forward to many years later I rewatch it again with adult eyes and a renewed #Catholic mindset. Well of course I see things differently now.
Before rewatching, I saw a comment that they portrayed Joan of Arc as a crazy woman that's why the TV movie series is better . I definitely disagreed w/ that. Unfortunately it may have influenced my thoughts while watching. When I rewatched, indeed it was like she's always screaming and being told to calm down a lot while in the war. Like, was that really necessary? They made her seem like she had ADHD or something.
Still I like this #film better than the other one. This one is very active and dynamic! There's never a dull moment. You can really feel the action and energy when you watch it. Definitely it is still so much better than any Joan of Arc movie/series/documentary I've ever seen. This is how movies should be made, quite the #entertainment . My rating for this is 8 out of 10 stars! Excellent movie of a time when God actually took an active part again in human history. Wow right? But of course it's a Hollywood production so everything is NOT perfectly Catholic at all. Still I highly recommend people watch it than the other movies about her out there if you want to be entertained and inspired. ❤️
