#ParentifiedKid

The Moment:
When my father was abroad , a lot of responsibilities at home slowly fell on me. I had to help my mother with many things and look after my younger siblings making sure they finished their homework, behaved well, and sometimes even handling small household tasks. At an age when most kids were just enjoying school and friends, I felt like I had to step up and act older than I really was.

How It Felt:
At that time, I felt a mix of pride and pressure. I wanted to help my family, but sometimes it also felt heavy. I couldn’t always relax like other kids because there was always something that needed my attention.

Impact Now:
Even now, I often feel responsible for taking care of things and making sure everyone around me is okay. Sometimes I put others’ needs before my own without realizing it.

One Takeaway:
One thing I’ve learned is that helping family is important, but it’s also okay to give yourself space and not carry every responsibility alone.
