I grew up seeing unfair treatment between son and daughter, where the son was always defended even when he was wrong.
Even if the daughter was innocent, she was told to stay quiet and adjust.
My own parents were like that, and it hurt me deeply.
When my brother raised his hand on me, everyone supported him just because he is a son.
Even though I was not at fault, I had to apologize because I was alone.
Because of these experiences, betrayal feels very personal and painful to me.
If someone cheats on me, I may forgive once, but I will choose strong boundaries.
I believe people should receive only the access and respect they deserve, nothing more.
For me, the absolute line that can never be crossed is injustice and imbalance, especially between a son and a daughter.

I’m so sorry you went through that . Your choice to forgive once but set firm boundaries and refuse injustice is completely valid; protecting yourself and demanding equal respect is strength.
