before he became a horror movie legend, george romero worked on mister roger's neighborhood as a director. in fact, his work on the series was his first job in the industry. romero had nothing but positive things to say about his time working with mister rogers. he called rogers "the sweetest man i ever knew".
romero eventually left the series to pursue his filmmaking endeavors, eventually making night of the living dead in 1968. in 1978, 10 years later, romero made dawn of the dead. to his surprise, rogers phoned up romero and described the film as "great fun".
imagine that. wholesome mister rogers enjoying a violent monster movie.
apparently, rogers was also a fan of monty python's flying circus. #movies #video
