Why didn’t the Incredible Hulk go to plan???

It honestly surprises me still that the Hulk isn’t more of a predominant figure in the MCU. Sure he was foundational to phase one but after he just got left to the side and I often wonder why that is.

(Skip to Part B, this is next part are just my thoughts)

They really set him up to be a villain to fight. Iron Man mentions they’re putting a team together (which thinking about it now makes no sense, Tony wasn’t on the list for the team but 🤷). He makes it sound like they’re setting up a team to take down the Hulk, which they do but it’s for a small amount of time, kinda like in the Ultimates, except for the fact he wasn’t a crazy monster who ate people.

And then Hulk was just kinda there in Iron Man 3, but it made sense to have him back for Age of Ultron and Ragnarock, but after Infinity War, it was all downhill. He got beat which I think was an interesting decision to prove how strong Thanos was, and then he refused to fight again. And Professor Hulk was interesting but what do you do after that? It feels like they got backed into a corner and they keep switching between Banner and Professor Hulk.

She Hulk came around and we got introduced to Skarr with his weird ahh haircut. We also see that the Abomination is turning his life around (which good for him).

Then shortly after, they give TWO, count em TWO, hulk villains to Captain America!!!!! And Hulk isn’t even in the movie so why? The Leader is now captured along with Red Hulk on the Raft. And the before mentioned Abomination, so the most well known villains for any Hulk series are now out the window.

And with Spider-Man Brand New Day coming out and already being spoiled that Banner and Hulk are becoming separate entities again, it makes you wonder what are they doing with this character???

(Part B)
I understand that Universal has the rights to the character and there was a lot of behind the scenes drama but the movie in my opinion isn’t THAT bad, especially comparing to some of the project we’re getting now.

So why didn’t they try to continue with a hulk trilogy. The first movie wasn’t considered good but The Dark World was bad and they continued with the Thor trilogy.

What are your thoughts, why did the Hulk series fail?
