Mark Hamill / UNITED24 have managed to complete this massive fund raiser for the 10 drones in a short amount of time, aided by an appearance on CNN where he mentioned the project and it's importance. Big thank you to everyone who has donated towards this, giving Ukraine more of a highly sought capability.
At approx 150.000$ each these drones are not cheap by any measure, but have proven themselves highly valuable and reliable on the Ukrainian battlefield, capable of withstanding electronic warfare (EW) and jamming, thus able to perform ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) missions in areas most other platforms in Ukraines inventory would struggle with.
The RQ-35 Heidrun can be controlled manually or in autonomous mode following a predetermined route and is also stealthy, thanks to its low observable design features, minimal IR signature, and the use of carbon in its structure.
The fundraiser to specifically acquire more of the RQ-35 drones was launched at the request of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
25 of these UAVs were donated to Ukraine by Denmark in april 2022.
**RQ-35 Heidrun specs:**
* Length – 1.07 meters; * Wingspan – 1.65 m; * Drone weight: 2.3 kg (complete set with 2 batteries and control system – 28 kg); * Deployment time: 5 minutes; * Flight endurance: 90 min.; * Camera coverage: 360 degrees; * Maximum speed: 60 km/h; * Flight ceiling: 3.5 km; * Control range: 10-12 km (visually), up to 30 km using the extended antenna.
