Is moving around a lot while soloing okay to do if you are not very good at soloing?
Hello everyone. I am an intermediate jazz pianist and wanted to ask a question. Whenever I solo I tend to move my head and neck a lot. This isnt something I do intentionally, I just really get into it. I know other jazz musicians do this as well when they solo.
I am still an intermediate jazz musician, and a lot of the time looking back my solos dont sound very good. Not bad, just not amazing, and the amount my body, neck, and head move as well as my facial expressions dont match how good the solo sounds.
Should I be mindful of this and try to stop moving around so much or is it still okay to move around and be into your own solo regardless of how good it actually sounds?
