This is my breaking point right now. After two years of marriage, I found out my husband has a mistress. But when I asked him, he dump all the blame to me. He did not show any remorse nor ask for my forgiveness. That's the time I decided to walk away. I told him to be happy for his choice, and our daughter will know him as her father. I still ask him to send some financial support every month as I don't have any work right now. I decided to forgive him for what he did to me. My priority now is to nurture my daughter to grow strong and independent, help her to walk the right path and help her to become a better person. If my husband will show remorse someday and reconcile, I'll still choose myself and my daughter because living with peace is better than having some sleep problems and thought confusion or worry.
📍 Would you stay for kids, or walk away? Why? I'll choose to stay away because I want to reclaim my self worth as a woman. I don't need someone who doesn't appreciate me and take my love for granted. The kids I can take them with me, and will support them.
📍 Stay and fight for reconciliation, or protect your peace first? I'll protect my peace first because I believed that even though I'll fight for reconciliation if there is no remorse, it will end up nothing and he will do it again.
📍 What's one key advice you'd give them right now? One key advice is love yourself first. Don't try to fight for anything if the other party is unwilling to give up what he wants to do. Don't dwell on his empty promises that one day he will change and love you for who you are. Once a relationship is stained, even if you forgive each other and reconcile, you will always think of what he did in the past. Your foundation is already shaken, weaken and fragile causing one partner to be suspicious all the time.
📍 How would you rebuild solo (dating, therapy, self-care)? I would do self care, prioritizing and loving myself first so I can forgive those people who has hurt me in the past, and I can move forward to the next chapter of my life. I'll let go of my past mistakes and forgive myself for the shame and the hurts that I experienced from the person who once promised to love me at all times.
📍 Kids involved—co-parent or go low/no contact? I believe that kids should feel the love of his/her parents even though they live separately. Father should provide for their kids financially, so I believed co-parent because kids should not suffer just because of what the parents did.
📍 What joy can come from life with someone who boldly stopped choosing you long ago? Staying with someone who has stopped choosing you is a burden. Releasing that burden brings a sense of freedom, allowing you to stop wasting your time, energy, and emotions on a, situation that no longer serves you. The joy is found in a peaceful independence wherein you realize that you are worthy of a love that is sure, not confused.
