Looking for a dog friendly trail where I can do an overnight hike with my dad and pup
We would like to hike anywhere in Pennsylvania, we can hike relatively fast but we get distracted easily, so maybe a 20-30 mile overnight hike. I’m 16, my dad is in his forties. We are pretty fit, as we hike/bike/kickbox often. The dog is a poodle mix with a very thick coat which i will shave before the trip so it won’t be a problem. He has gone on long hikes with us before. 4 to 6 hour hikes. He is well trained and listens to commands. He is dog friendly but reactive towards most people, and will be kept on a leash at all times. As for gear, we have hiking boots, socks, clothes, the necessities. We haven’t gotten the overnight stuff yet as we want to pick a trail first so we get stuff for the right terrain. I’ve done a lot of research on overnight trips too, so I have an idea of what we need to get. We are experienced hikers, as we have done plenty of mountain peak hikes before and normal hikes. We have hiked all over Yellowstone and Long Island but we have never done an overnight hike. (We got lost on the Appalachians once though. We started the hike at 9am and didn’t find the trail to get back until like 10pm, that was pretty scary) I went on a hike in PA once that had a ton of fossils next to a waterfall and that was amazing.
