Retirement trip idea – looking for solid Jeep experiences
Hi all,
My dad is retiring soon, and I’m trying to put together a trip that brings things full circle for him. Before he spent years prioritizing us kids and all our sport activities, he was big into Jeep off-roading. Some of my best childhood memories are being out on the trails with him at a Jeep Jamboree or at his off-roading mechanics shop. Pic of his very customized Jeep Grand Cherokee attached!
I’d love to take him on an off roading trip, but he does not have a rig anymore—so I’m looking for places where you can rent a capable Jeep (or similar) or join a well-run guided trip.
A few things I’m hoping for:
\* Great scenery (desert, mountains, forest—open to anything)
\* Legit trails—not necessarily extreme, but something engaging and not just a dirt road
\* Rental rigs that are actually trail-ready or reputable guided outfits
\* Lodging nearby or multi-day route setups would be a plus
If you’ve done anything like this or know of good outfitters/areas, I’d really appreciate the insight. Also happy to hear any lessons learned or things to avoid when booking. TIA! #sport source
