Ukrainian public view on EU enlargement process
I want to start with the fact that I really want Ukrainian to become a part of the EU. Yesterday I watched EU accession conferences and I noticed that prominent Ukrainian press members asked questions like "Will the EU impose on itself target dates for candidate states membership"
It sounds really strange because EU accession is a merit based process. It sounded like there is a belief that the EU opens and closes chapters on the whim without actual fulfilment of agreed obligations.
I mean it was a member of the press and if they were sent to the conference they should be at least aware of basic principles of the process. Especially if representing a big media
Is that view prevalent in Ukraine or just an individual ill informed journalist?
I don't want it to sound inflammatory, its just something that strikes me as so odd.
