Does anyone know who was speaking English on a few of Django Reinhardt's / Quintette du Hot Club de France's recordings, c. 1937-1938?

I was listening to them earlier today when it occurred to me to ask this question. A man can be heard speaking English with an American/Transatlantic accent on a few of their recordings. He isn't singing but instead sounds like he's speaking to other members, such as when he says "One more, Steph, one more" on their version of Sweet Georgia Brown.

I'm aware that the lineup of the Quintet changed a few times, but so far I've ruled out:

\- Django Reinhardt - According to a few sources, Reinhardt himself spoke very little English.

\- Stephan Grappelli - Though he did speak English, he apparently did so with a noticeable French accent. Plus our mystery man refers to Stephan as a different person.

\- Freddy Taylor - Initially I thought it might've been him given Taylor's other work with the Quintet and his accent, but I feel the voices are too different from one another to be the same.

Looking through the discography, I think it *might* be either bassist Louis Vola or guitarist Eugène Vées, as both were present for recordings wherein the voice is heard. This is a very shaky guess, though, and I'd love to see if any of y'all got any input.
