What "Marvel Time" explanation broke your brain?
So, Marvel Time is how to explain Spider-Man not being 80. One year of Marvel time is roughly five years of real time. By this math Spidey is still in his twenties. High school characters can be in high school for decades, or can become adults, whatever the story needs.
Anything related to specific historical events is hard to reckon with this. Mr. Fantastic and Ben Grimm are Army buddies from World War II. Magneto is a Holocaust survivor. The Punisher is a Vietnam vet. Some of these have been retconned.
Flashback stories often will show real life technology - something that happened to the X-Men during the Dark Phoenix era in the 70s will have flashbacks with people watching flatscreen TVs.
The thing that makes me flabbergasted Comic Book Guy is a Spider-Man flashback story called Spiral, from 2015, the middle of the excellent Dan Slott era. It's a flashback to when Spidey is first bitten, and he goes on what is implied to be the Ed Sullivan Show. This story involves someone in the audience with a smartphone filming it to make Spidey go viral.
