ELI5: Need help understanding chromosome fusion and it’s significance
I need help understanding: - what exactly does a chromosome do? (Besides carry dna) and why does it matter when there is a fusion? - what specifically happened when the fusion happened? What did it do? What were the effects? - what is the significance? Why is this a big deal?
Sorry if this sounds dumb, biology has always been confusing for me to understand. As a side hobby I’ve been studying about evolution and anthropology and stuff. I was reading about how humans chromosome count went to 48 to 46 and it’s this big thing in science but I’m struggling to understand what exactly it means. Thank you
