Let talk briefly on situations given in the activity.
Personal stance on aging without children I don’t see growing old without children as a problem in itself. It’s a valid life path, just like having children is. But here’s the part people often avoid saying, having children doesn’t automatically prevent loneliness, and not having children doesn’t guarantee it either. Here in asian society especially in Pakistan people love their parents and parents feels that they have safe future as they have children. In old age as most of us didn't have pension, we rely on kids to feed us. Personally, I think the life of old age without children is more tough than having children.
What “aging well” means To me, aging well isn’t about who surrounds you, but how connected you remain. Personally, I took aging well means having meaningful relationships (not just family, but chosen connections) , staying mentally and emotionally engaged. Got feeling useful, valued, or purposeful maintaining dignity and independence as much as possible. Our Society, however, often defines aging well as, having children 🔸Having grandchildren. 🔸Being surrounded by family.
A common saying or belief. A very common one is: “A woman’s life is incomplete without becoming a mother.” This belief reduces a woman’s identity to one role. Of a woman , especially in Pakistan, didn't have children, people start ignoring her ambitions, her individuality and her contributions outside family. It also quietly pressures women into choices that may not truly be theirs.
A societal assumption about child-free individuals One big assumption is. People who don’t have children will regret it and end up alone and it is proven somewhere in society. This is too simplistic. It ignores people who actively choose child-free lives and build strong social networks. Those who contribute to society in other meaningful ways (mentorship, community, creativity, etc.) The reality that regret exists on both sides some regret not having children, others regret having them.
Attachment details: The word came in mind instantly, as I have experience of our society, is Reduction . The image I draw is sharp decline as results of reduction in individual's feelings, thinking, mental health.
