Here’s the situation- my daughter is 20, never camped on her own. She and her friend (a student at West Point- a strong, capable woman) are planning on driving from MD to Acadia in ME, 10.5 hours without stops or traffic, so in reality 15 hours (?) in one day, set up a tent camp, stay 3 nights and drive home in one day. I think that amount of driving is going to be unsafe, and detract from their trip because they will be exhausted. Here’s my question- I would like to suggest alternatives, preferably a gorgeous, waterfront (lake, beach, waterfall, whatever) place for them to camp that’s closer. A 3-7 hour drive from the DC area. We go to the OBX every year and used to live in Asheville so those are not options. Thanks for any ideas! #activity #camping source
