Is there a non-organic thickener I can mix with crushed Perlite and water to make a heat insulating shield to use while soldering?
Is there a non-organic thickener I can mix with water and crushed pearlite powder to make a heat insulating concoction to apply to already soldered parts to prevent them fron falling apart? I create metal sculpture using wires intricately and closely positioned which are soldered inan organic looking, viney way. I need to find a non-organic thickened to mix with Perlite and water to make a heat insulation mixture to cover previously soldered wires joins so they don't melt and fall apart. I've been using vermiculite mixed with water and cellulose gum as a heat shiel, and it creates a dirty flame that makes the metal grubby. I think any organic thickener would create a dirty flame. Any ideas?
