Ashish Vaswani, Noam Shazeer, Niki Parmar, Jakob Uszkoreit, Llion Jones, Aidan Gomez, Łukasz Kaiser, and Illia Polosukhin wrote Attention is All You Need https://research.google/pubs/attention-is-all-you-need/ , which introduced transformers, which set up the architecture for AI.
Alex Radford, Karthik Narasimhan, Tim Salimans, and Ilya Sutskever wrote Improving Language Understanding by Generative Pre-Training https://cdn.openai.com/research-covers/language-unsupervised/language_understanding_paper.pdf , which applied that architecture to text and created GPTs.
**Why YSK:**
Steve Jobs gets credit for inventing smart phones, but we all know it was his engineers who did it. We don't, however, know who, specifically, were the real inventors.
We do for AI. We know exactly who did the research and experimentation that created AI.
Sam Altman isn't on the list.
