Ive got a tubed frame that I want to make into a cabinet. Frame is made from metal that is non rusting and non magnetic and not aluminium. I am very familiar with aluminium. The frame, It has been welded. Made from 30x30 hollow tube.
Now the thing is that for the life of me I cannot drill it (easily). I have to make at least 26 holes of 2mm without a pillar drill on the inner sides of the frame. I have to hammer a 2-3mm dent with my centerpunch (which is now dull as hell) before using a step drill to hog some material and then finish it with the 2mm drill. This takes 20minutes for one hole... I am using new drill bits, new everything. Slow drill speed, high drill speed, lots of weight -nothing. I bought expensive drill bits - nothing... I am seriously considering using epoxy to glue the hinges and tabs to the frame as that will be less time consuming than drilling... #industry source
