TIL about the Australian Tablespoon
Picked up a nice set of measuring spoons from an opshop, stoked that I'd scored a 1/8tsp - 1tbsp set. Halfway through baking banana bread I realised that the tablespoon is 20ml instead of 15ml.
Turns out Australia has their own tablespoon, and one ended up in a small opshop in New Zealand. They saw the imperial vs metric discourse and decided they'd do their own thing all together.
The banana bread turned out fantastic, albeit with an extra 4tsp of butter
